New Times BrowardPalm Beach
The population growth in South Florida, particularly in Broward and Palm Beach counties, prompted the expansion of
New Times in late 1997. The Broward - Palm Beach edition was launched into a very competitive newspaper market,
and within the first year, circulation grew by 10,000 copies to 70,000. In that time the paper has developed a loyal
readership, thanks to our compelling magazine-length stories and well-crafted features. In recent issues we've exposed
the questionable associations of the local sheriff with felons and profiled one of South Florida's best-known sports
heroes, Dan Marino. We have also prompted reforms within a state-funded facility for mentally retarded adults and revealed
Mob ties to two prominent businessmen, all in keeping with New Times's style of aggressive news reporting. The
paper also offers extensive coverage of the arts and entertainment scenes in Broward and Palm Beach counties, which
includes stage and restaurant reviews, stories on local musicians, and the most comprehensive calendar of events in
the area.
